I just wanted to know that I picked up the New Zealand Chinese Herald on Saturday and was not at all impressed with how you covered Hillary's death.  I'm not quite sure if you are the one who made the decisions about the coverage, or how the paper works.  At any rate, at least you wrote an obituary for him.  Personally I think a little more thought could have improved the obituary enormously, but never mind, at least you tried.

I wrote some detailed comments about the whole thing on my Blog.  I honestly think you will get a fresh perspective from it and find the whole thing interesting reading.  Sorry if I am a bit cruel in places, but sometimes exaggeration helps make a point.  Sorry also if I missed some things in the New Zealand Chinese Herald.  Chinese is not my first language, I don't read it very well, and there is always a possibility of me missing something.

Hopefully there is something valuable in my long rant that can help the New Zealand Chinese Herald produce better coverage of the Hillary story between now and the funeral?  Hillary wasn't Asian or Chinese, but I think he was a big enough figure to transcend minor barriers such as race and culture.  His charity work in Nepal has certainly contributed to Asia, and the foundation for that charity work was a physical feat he accomplished in equal partnership with a famous Asian hero, arguably a Chinese hero.
